ZZ Top and Jeff Beck – Rough Boy – Live at The Woodlands, TX, 2022.

You lose faith in humanity and then, you hear and see this. Pure beauty and love through the ears!

Lyrics:
What in the world’s come all over me?
I ain’t got a chance of one in three
Ain’t got no rap, ain’t got no line
But if you’ll give me just a minute I’ll be feelin’ fine

I am the one who can fade the heat
The one they all say just can’t be beat
I’ll shoot it to you straight and look you in the eye
So give me just a minute and I’ll tell you why

I’m a rough boy, I’m a rough boy

I don’t care how you look at me
Because I’m the one and you will see
We can make it work, we can make it by
So give me one more minute and I’ll tell you why

I’m a rough boy, I’m a rough boy

Stevie Ray Vaughan – Voodoo Child https://stillgotthebluesmusic.com/stevie-ray-vaughan-voodoo-child-live/ https://stillgotthebluesmusic.com/stevie-ray-vaughan-voodoo-child-live/#respond Sun, 14 Apr 2024 19:43:22 +0000 https://stillgotthebluesmusic.com/?p=10435

Stevie Ray Vaughan – Voodoo Child – Live at the El Mocambo 1983.

Let’s be honest: no one will ever, EVER be able to perform like Stevie did that night at El Mocambo. He is just unique!

Can we take a second to appreciate how cool he looks? That hat, the outfit, he’s killing it!

Of the various covers of “Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) by Jimi Hendrix,” none are as beautiful and amazing as Stevie Ray Vaughan’s. Vaughan recorded this lovely track with his band Double Trouble for their 1984 From the Album “Couldn’t Stand The Weather”

Lyrics:
Well, I’m standing next to a mountain
Chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well, I’m standing next to a mountain
Chop it down with the edge of my hand
Pick up all the pieces, make an island
Might even raise a little sand

‘Cause I’m a voodoo child yeah
Lord knows I’m a voodoo child

I didn’t mean to take up all your sweet time
Give it right back to you one of these days
I didn’t mean to take up all your sweet time
Give it right back to you the rest of my days

I won’t see you again in this world
See you in the next one, don’t be late
Don’t be late

‘Cause I’m a voodoo child yeah
Lord knows I’m a voodoo child

The Blues Brothers – Sweet Home Chicago https://stillgotthebluesmusic.com/the-blues-brothers-sweet-home-chicago/ https://stillgotthebluesmusic.com/the-blues-brothers-sweet-home-chicago/#respond Fri, 12 Apr 2024 16:27:28 +0000 https://stillgotthebluesmusic.com/?p=10427

The Blues Brothers – Sweet Home Chicago – Live in the 1980 film, The Blues Brothers.

RIP John Belushi and John Candy, two of the greatest comedians in one great movie! Just freaking brilliant. Great clip from multi-talented performers!

It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark out, and we’re wearing sunglasses. HIT IT!

The Blues Brothers is a classic movie, a slight misfire at the box office on the original release, but a film that gained a substantial cult following via cinema re-releases and especially home viewing. It’s a riotous mix of comedy, musical and serial car crash (literally) with a phenomenal number of legendary musical cameos: Ray Charles, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and John Lee Hooker included.

Lyrics:
Come on, oh baby, don’t you wanna go?
Come on, oh baby, don’t you wanna go
Back to that same old place
Sweet home Chicago

Come on, baby, don’t you wanna go?
Hida-hey, baby, don’t you wanna go?
Back to that same old place
Oh, sweet home Chicago

Well, one and one is two
Six and two is eight
Come on, baby, don’t you make me late

Hida-hey, baby, don’t you wanna go?
Back to that same old place
Sweet home Chicago

Come on, baby, don’t you wanna go?
Oh, come on, baby, don’t you wanna go?
Back to that same old place
Sweet home Chicago

Six and three is nine
Nine and nine is eighteen
Look there, brother, baby and
You’ll see what I seen

Hida-hey, baby, don’t you wanna go?
Back to that same old place
Sweet home Chicago

Oh, come on, baby, don’t you wanna go
Come on, baby, don’t you wanna go?
Back to that same old place
My sweet home Chicago

Allman Brothers Band – Come And Go Blues – Live at Beacon Theatre, 2003.

Definitely one of the finest, most superior quality rock and roll tunes ever composed and recorded. Never gets old. I’ve been listening to them since high school when this album came out. They definitely passed the test of time.

Lyrics:
People say that you’re no good
But I wouldn’t cut you loose, baby, if I could
I seem to stay down on the ground
Baby, I’m too far gone to turn around

Oh, if only you would make up your mind
Take me where you go, you’re leaving me [Incomprehensible] behind

Woman, you got those come and go blues
Yes, you do
Lord, you got those come and go blues
Yes, you do
And oh, you got me feelin’ like a fool
Just like a fool

‘Round and ’round, ’round we go
Don’t ask me why I stay here, I don’t know
Well, maybe I’m a fool to care
Without your sweet love, baby, I would be nowhere

So here I’ll stay, locked in your web
Till that day I might find someone else
But I don’t know just when that would be
But I don’t know, I can’t say ’cause I can’t see

Sail on, my darlin’, sail on
You just go your way and I’ll go mine
But it seems to me that I once heard
That everything is finally cured by time

Yes, sail on, my darlin’, sail on
And I’ll just wish you good luck
And I’ll see you when you come next time

Lord, you got those come and go blues
Yes, you do
Woman, you got those come and go blues
I swear you do
Oh and you got me feelin’ like a fool
Just like a fool

Eric Clapton, Jimmie Vaughan, Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall II – High Time We Went – Live at Eric’s 70th Birthday Celebration May 3rd 2015. Madison Square garden NY.

Eric knows how to step out of the spotlight and share the stage; he’s a true gentleman!

What a lineup… If you have to turn 70, that is the way to do it!

Lyrics:
Well, it’s five o’clock in the mornin’
Feel just like the end of a mule
Somebody’s been yawnin’
Tryin’ to break out the rules

Yes, it’s high time we went
Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went there?
Ain’t it high time we went?

Well, it’s four o’clock in the mornin’
Somebody’s shoutin’ the news
Nobody’s been yawnin’
Preachers all around for the blues

Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?

Three o’clock and I’m dreamin’
Somebody’s shoutin’ the way
Nobody can see me
Tryin’ to find a brand new day

Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?

Two o’clock and I’m rollin’
Everywhere I look is the same
Somebody’s been callin’
Tryin’ to put the blame on my name

Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?

It’s one o’clock
Fallin’ for the same old game
Somebody’s been shoutin’
Let me be by the stage

Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?

Well, it’s twelve o’clock and I got there
Didn’t think I’d make it in time
Somebody’s been shoutin’
“Don’t forget the lemon and lime”

Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?
Ain’t it high time we went?

Fleetwood Mac – You Make Loving Fun https://stillgotthebluesmusic.com/fleetwood-mac-you-make-loving-fun/ https://stillgotthebluesmusic.com/fleetwood-mac-you-make-loving-fun/#respond Sun, 07 Apr 2024 20:19:10 +0000 https://stillgotthebluesmusic.com/?p=10412

Fleetwood Mac – You Make Loving Fun – Live at Studio Instrument Rentals in 1976.

No lip-syncing, no autotune! Just real musicians actually playing real instruments, blessing the audience with genuine vocals and an authentic live performance!

Imagine how legendary you must’ve been to have Stevie Nicks doing backing vocals in one of your songs. Fly high, Christine; you inspired an entire generation with your talent!

The band’s chemistry is palpable as they effortlessly navigate through each verse and chorus, their instruments pulsating with life and vigor. Lindsey Buckingham’s intricate guitar work adds depth and dimension to the performance, while Mick Fleetwood’s thunderous drumming provides a solid foundation that drives the song forward with relentless momentum.

But it’s Christine McVie who truly steals the show with her captivating presence and commanding vocals. With every note she sings, you can feel the passion and emotion pouring out, leaving you spellbound and craving for more.

Lyrics:
Sweet wonderful you
You make me happy with the things you do
Oh, can it be so
This feeling follows me wherever I go

I never did believe in miracles
But I’ve a feeling it’s time to try
I never did believe in the ways of magic
But I’m beginning to wonder why

I never did believe in miracles
But I’ve a feeling it’s time to try
I never did believe in the ways of magic
But I’m beginning to wonder why

Don’t, don’t break the spell
It would be different and you know it will
You, you make loving fun
And I don’t have to tell you but you’re the only one

You, you make loving fun
It’s all I want to do
You, you make loving fun
It’s all I want to do
You, you make loving fun
It’s all I want to do
You, you make loving fun
It’s all I want to do

Bonnie Raitt – Storm Warning – Live

Very, very few people can carry a song such as this one with such emotion, like Bonnie does. Simply beautiful!

Lyrics:
Storm warning, feels like a heavy rain
Winds on the coast tonight
We may get tossed tonight
Storm warning, he made it pretty plain
He’s fallin’ for another, found a new lover
(And he won’t be back again)
Can’t stop a river, when it’s burst it’s banks
I’ve seen the look in his eyes
He’s in love and hypnotized
Time of mourning
There’s already been a flood of my tears
Such a sense of loss tonight
Nought to do but ride it out
Can’t stop a river when it’s burst it’s banks
I wonder how long it’s gonna take
To get over this heartbreak
Storm warning, feels like a heavy rain
Winds on the coast tonight
We may get tossed tonight

Gary Moore – Parisienne Walkways – Live at the Royal Albert Hall, 1992.

The master at work! No one had a vibrato like him! Very few artists can truly bear their soul for us to share. Gary’s guitar sings, screams, and cries. And, so does my heart!

“So underrated, just because he didn’t bow to any media, he didn’t once use his talent to earn millions of pounds, he didn’t compare himself to other musicians saying he’s better than them, he didn’t do a controversial interview – he didn’t do anything that media wanted him to do – he got onto that stage, just so he could spread beauty in the form of sound, he gave memorable performances, he gave his heart and his soul to that guitar and the guitar gave it right back… Thank you Gary Moore!”
— G-Reacts

Lyrics:
I remember Paris in ’49
The Champs-Élysées, Saint Michelle and old Beaujolais wine
And I recall that you were mine
In those Parisienne days

Looking back at the photographs
Those summer days spent outside corner cafes
Oh, I could write you paragraphs
About my old Parisienne days

Bonnie Raitt – Livin’ for the Ones – Live at Austin City Limits, 2024.

Hard to believe ACL is actually putting listenable music made by real, talented artists again. What once was the highlight of the week has been avoided for years!

ACL legend Bonnie Raitt performs “Livin’ for the Ones” during her fourth appearance on Austin City Limits (five if you count her ACL Hall of Fame induction and celebration!). Her newest episode premieres February 24, 2024 on PBS.

Lyrics:
I can barely raise my head off the pillow
Some days I never get out of bed
I start out with the best of intentions
And then shuck it instead

I don’t think we’ll get back how we use to
No use in tryin’ to measure the loss
We better start gettin’ used to it
And damn the cost

Go ahead and ask me
How I make it through
Only way I know is to
Keep

Livin’ for the ones (ones who didn’t make it)
Livin’ for the ones (ones who didn’t make it)
Keep livin’ for the ones (ones who didn’t make it)
Livin’ for the ones

I’m livin’ for the ones who didn’t make it
Cut down through no fault of their own
Just keep ’em in mind, all the chances denied
If you ever start to bitch and moan

Just remember the ones who won’t ever
Feel the sun on their faces again
Watch their grandkids collide, let it
Break you inside
Maybe this’ll be the way you mend

Go ahead and ask me
How I make it through
Only way I know is
Keep

Livin’ for the ones (ones who didn’t make it)
Livin’ for the ones (ones who didn’t make it)
Keep livin’ for the ones (ones who didn’t make it)
Livin’ for the ones (ones who didn’t make it)
