Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughan Jamming at Buddy Guy’s Birthday
This is so cool, you don’t see too many video’s with these two! When you think about it, Buddy Guy is pretty much the last man standing at this point.
Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughan Jamming at Buddy Guy’s Legends on Buddy’s Birthday, July 30, 1989.
One thing that I’ve noticed about Stevie is that whenever he played with one of his heroes, his playing would change to match theirs. Watch the session he did with Albert King and Stevie is pulling out every Albert King lick he knows. Just as here, he’s playing more like Buddy Guy than he usually did. I think it was Stevie’s way of showing respect and saying “See? I’ve studied you!” to his heroes.
Buddy’s soulful vocals and Stevie’s searing guitar work came together in a performance that was both deeply moving and technically brilliant. The chemistry between the two was palpable, and the audience was left in awe of the sheer talent on display.
Buddy Guy’s Legends provided the perfect intimate setting for this historic jam session, allowing fans to experience the raw power and emotion of the blues up close. The energy in the room was electric, with every note resonating deeply with the audience, making it clear that they were witnessing something truly special.
