Champagne and Reefer by Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughan (Live)

Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughan jamming at Buddy Guy’s Legends on July 30, 1989. Video by Larry White.

Absolutely incredible. I love the way Stevie talks with his guitar. No words needed. He was the best! He absolutely gives the highest respect to his heroes on stage.

Doesn’t matter if it’s a big or small stage.
Buddy guy the ultimate showman, with outstanding humility. I love the way he reached under his guitar to say hey Stevie let’s play it under the top.

Forget color, forget differences. Feel the soul between these two bluesmen. This is what life is all about.

Lyrics:
Bring me champagne when I’m thirsty.
Bring me reefer when I want to get high.

Give me champagne when I’m thirsty.
Give me reefer when I want to get high.

Give me a woman when I’m getting lonely
And set her right down here by my side
Wait your turn

No, there should be no law
On a man that want to smoke a little dope.
Hey man, there should be no law
On a man that want to smoke a little dope.

Yeah Everytime I get high
I lay my head down on my baby’s breast, yeah
Everytime I get high
I lay my head down on my baby’s breast

Well you know she done hug and kiss me
She says Buddy Guy you’re the best.

I’m gonna get high this morning
People get sure it’s my name.
I’m gonna get high this morning
People get sure it’s my name.

… no cocaine
Give me champagne when I’m thirsty.
Give me reefer when I want to get high.
Give me champagne when I’m thirsty.
Give me reefer when I want to get high.

Give me a woman when I’m getting lonely
Lay down by my baby side

Come on!

One more time
One more time
One more time

Give me a woman when I’m getting lonely
Lay down by my baby side

Well you know I lay down be quiet
Tryin’ to take my rest.
