Happy Birthday to Carlos Santana
Blues Jam Live Performance by Carlos Santana at Santiago 1992
Carlos Santana (born July 20, 1947) is a Mexican and American artist who initially ended up well known in the late 1960s and mid-1970s with his band, Santana, which spearheaded a combination of shake and Latin American jazz. The band’s sound included his melodic, blues-based guitar lines set against Latin and African rhythms highlighting percussion instruments, for example, timbales and congas not for the most part heard in shake music. Santana kept on working in these structures over the next decades. He encountered a resurgence of prominence and basic approval in the late 1990s. In 2003 Rolling Stone magazine recorded Santana at number 20 on their rundown of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Carlos won 10 Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards.
