Bonnie Raitt and Sheryl Crow – Everything Is Broken – Performance and Review

The 2019 performance of “Everything Is Broken” by Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads was a masterclass of bluesy rock. The electrifying ambience was almost surreal even as the crowd were brought into the performance from the time the band stepped onto the stage. Crow opened the song with the range defining her as a versatile vocalist who infuses attitude and passion to the narration of lyrics. Raitt’s timing was perfect as she added power and authenticity to the song that only she possesses when using her famous slide guitar.

Enjoy watching the official video for Sheryl Crow & Bonnie Raitt very well as they perform Everything Is Broken at the Crossroads 2019 Concert.

It was a great representation of the two hybrids, once Spade Cooley dances Rock and R’n’B with Crows rockish soul and the bluesy groove of Ray Charles. Crows moved this way and that in their attempts to avoid Raitt’s surprisingly effective slide guitar. The way these two musicians interacted was fascinating, and the way they exchanged verses and licked the cushion of guitar was equally as captivating since they had been doing it for many years. Fighting with her was useless since it was evident that their eyes were filled with mutual respect for her, their performance was more of a dialogue then rather than a performance of two.

“Eric Clapton, one of the world’s pre-eminent blues/rock guitarists, once again summoned an all-star team of six-string heroes for his fifth Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2019. Held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, the two-day concert event raised funds for the Crossroads Centre in Antigua, the chemical dependency treatment and education facility that Clapton founded in 1998.”

Lyrics:
Broken lines, broken strings
Broken threads, broken springs
Broken idols, broken heads
People sleeping in broken beds
Ain’t no use jiving, ain’t no use joking
Everything is broken

Broken bottles, broken plates
Broken switches, broken gates
Broken dishes, broken parts
Streets are filled with broken hearts
Broken words never meant to be spoken
Everything’s broken

Seems like every time you stop and turn around
Something else just hits the ground

Broken cutters, broken saws
Broken buckles, broken law
Broken bodies, broken bones
Broken voices, broken phones
Take a deep breath, feels like I’m choking
Everything’s broken

Broken hands on broken ploughs
Broken treaties, broken vows
Broken pipes, broken tools
People bending broken rules
Hound dog howling, bullfrog croaking
Everything’s broken

Every time you leave and go off someplace
Things fall to pieces in my face

Broken hands, broken ploughs
Broken treaties, broken vows
Broken pipes, broken tools
People bending broken rules
Hound dog howling, bullfrog croaking
Everything’s broken

Everything’s broken
Everything’s broken
Everything’s broken
Everything’s broken
(Broken, broken)
It’s all broke down
Everything I see is broken, broken
Everything’s broken
Everything’s broken

Everything’s broken, broken
Everything’s broken
