The Derek Trucks Band – Days Is Almost Gone

Slide guitar virtuoso Derek Trucks was born on June 08, 1979.

He bought his first guitar for $5.00 at a garage sale at the age of nine and played his first paid gig two years later. He took to playing slide because his hands were still small.

He formed The Derek Trucks Band in 1994 and released his first LP in 1997.

At the age of twenty, he became an official member of The Allman Brother’s band, remaining with them until 2014.

Trucks worked any number of projects during those years, performing with three different bands in seventeen countries in 2006 alone.

This number comes from the 2010 live release “Roadsongs”.

The Derek Trucks Band was Derek Trucks on guitar, Mike Mattison on lead vocals, Todd Smallie on bass, Yonrico Scott on drums, Kufi Burbridge on keyboards and flute, Count M’butu, percussion and Mace Hibbard on saxophone, Kevin Hyde on trombone and Paul Garrett, trumpet.

In 2010 he formed The Tedeschi Trucks Band with his wife, singer / guitarist Susan Tedeschi (married in 2001) and they remain on the road to this day.

Lyrics:
Was a time when I was younger
I saw things get out of hand
Now I’m older in the story
I realize where I’ve been
It’s time I finally said

These days is almost gone
These days is almost gone
These days is almost gone
Don’t be late
‘Cause the sun won’t wait

Takin’ time and patience
To turn ourselves around
And maybe it’s just learnin’
To live with what we found
I love to hear the sound

When you wait too long
To get it right
Life can pass you by
The second chance
Can be you’re last
I’m reachin’ for the light
Yes I am

These days is almost gone
These days is almost gone
These days is almost gone
Don’t be late
‘Cause the sun won’t wait

These days is almost gone
These days is almost gone
These days is almost gone
Don’t be late
‘Cause the sun won’t wait

Days is almost gone (repeat to fade)
