Muddy Waters and The Rolling Stones – Baby Please Don’t Go
Muddy Waters and The Rolling Stones – Baby Please Don’t Go – Live at Checkerboard Lounge
The Godfather of Chicago Blues and the Godfathers of Blues Rock! This is pure magic. You can see the admiration and respect the Stones have always had for the blues masters like Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy.
As the story goes, back in the 60s when the Stones were just starting out, their first stop after landing in Chicago was Chess Records. Muddy Waters recording studio. They came in hopes of meeting Muddy in person. After walking up the stairs they saw a man on a ladder painting the ceiling in the hallway. Keith said, “Excuse me, sir, would you tell us if Muddy Waters is here?”
The man put down his paintbrush, got down off the ladder, wiped off his hands, and extended his hand to Keith.
“I’m Muddy Waters,” he said.
Keith’s jaw hit the floor.

Lyrics:
Baby, please don’t go
Baby, please don’t go
Baby, please don’t go
Down to New Orleans, you know I love you so
Before I be your dog
Before I be your dog
Before I be your dog
I get you way’d out here, and let you walk alone
Turn your lamp down low
Turn your lamp down low
Turn your lamp down low
I beg you all night long, baby, please don’t go
You know your man down gone
You know your man down gone
You know your man down gone
Down the country farm, with all the shackles on
You brought me way down here
You brought me way down here
You brought me way down here
‘Bout to Rolling Forks, you treat me like a dog
Baby, please don’t go
Baby, please don’t go
Baby, please don’t go
Down to New Orleans, I beg you all night long
