Carolyn Wonderland and Bonnie Raitt – It’s Nobody’s Fault but Mine

Carolyn Wonderland and Bonnie Raitt – “It’s Nobody’s Fault but Mine” – Live from “Road To Austin” film.

“Carolyn Wonderland delivers an epic rendition of the classic Blind Willie Johnson song “It’s Nobody’s Fault but Mine”. Carolyn and Bonnie trade guitar licks in front of an all-star band led by Stephen Bruton and featuring the late Ian McLagan on keyboards. This is one of 37 once-in-a-lifetime performances from the film Road To Austin.”
— Road To Austin

Carolyn is a powerful and expressive singer and an excellent guitar player. It’s so great to hear a new and refreshing slant on blues. Of course, Bonnie Raitt is excellent as always. It’s so good to see some ladies really delivering the blues as it should be sung and played! Fantastic performance by everyone!

Lyrics:
Nobody’s fault but mine,
Nobody’s fault but mine
If I don’t read it my soul be lost

I have a bible in my home,
I have a bible in my home
If I don’t read it my soul be lost

Mmm, father he taught me how to read,
Father he taught me how to read
If I don’t read it my soul be lost, nobody’s fault but mine

Ah, Lord, Lord, nobody’s fault but mine
If I don’t read it my soul be lost

Ah, I have a bible of my own,
I have a bible of my own
If I don’t read it my soul be lost

Oh, mother she taught me how to read,
Mother she taught me how to read
If I don’t read it my soul be lost, nobody’s fault but mine

Ah, Lord, Lord, nobody’s fault but mine
If I don’t read it my soul be lost

And sister she taught me how to read,
Sister she taught me how to read
If I don’t read it my soul be lost, nobody’s fault but mine

Ah, mmm, Lord, Lord, nobody’s fault but mine
If I don’t read it my soul’d be lost, mmm
