Led Zeppelin – Rock and Roll – Performance and Review

One of the most famous rock performances ever that still comes to mind is the 2007 Led Zeppelin reunion gig at London’s O2 Arena and their rendition of “Rock and Roll” remains a high point of the evening. The band was not only able to show off its long-lasting chemistry but also remind why Led Zeppelin continues to have an influence on rock music.

Starting from the first chord that was struck, there was a sense of inescapable energy. His guitar playing was as fiery and meticulous as ever, embodying all those iconic riffs with such fierceness that it felt like a wave of nostalgia washing over everyone in the crowded hall. No matter how old he became, Page had undeniable mastery over his instrument, and his solos were an exciting combination of technical supremacy and emotional firepower.

The concert’s visual production should be noted too. Vibrant lights flooded the stage energizing the performance, while huge screens made sure each and every member of the audience felt like they are right on top of things. The audio was excellent: it separated each instrument clearly resulting in an elaborate show-off for every detail in performance

Lyrics:
It’s been a long time since I rock and rolled
It’s been a long time since I did the stroll
Ooh let me get it back, let me get it back
Let me get it back, baby, where I come from

It’s been a long time, been a long time
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time
Yes, it has
It’s been a long time since the book of love
I can’t count the tears of a life with no love
Carry me back, carry me back
Carry me back, baby, where I come from, whoa-oh-oh

It’s been a long time, been a long time
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time

Oh seems so long since we walked in the moonlight
Making vows that just can’t work right, oh yeah
Open your arms, opens your arms
Open your arms, baby, let love come running in, yeah
It’s been a long time, been a long time
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time

Yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey, yeah-hey

Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
It’s been a long time, been a long time
Been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time

Songwriters: Jimmy Page / John Bonham / John Paul Jones / Robert Plant
