Stevie Ray Vaughan – Voodoo Child

Stevie Ray Vaughan – Voodoo Child – Live at the El Mocambo 1983.

Let’s be honest: no one will ever, EVER be able to perform like Stevie did that night at El Mocambo. He is just unique!

Can we take a second to appreciate how cool he looks? That hat, the outfit, he’s killing it!

Of the various covers of “Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) by Jimi Hendrix,” none are as beautiful and amazing as Stevie Ray Vaughan’s. Vaughan recorded this lovely track with his band Double Trouble for their 1984 From the Album “Couldn’t Stand The Weather”

Lyrics:
Well, I’m standing next to a mountain
Chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well, I’m standing next to a mountain
Chop it down with the edge of my hand
Pick up all the pieces, make an island
Might even raise a little sand

‘Cause I’m a voodoo child yeah
Lord knows I’m a voodoo child

I didn’t mean to take up all your sweet time
Give it right back to you one of these days
I didn’t mean to take up all your sweet time
Give it right back to you the rest of my days

I won’t see you again in this world
See you in the next one, don’t be late
Don’t be late

‘Cause I’m a voodoo child yeah
Lord knows I’m a voodoo child
